Shuttlerock powers the marketing teams behind global brands, helping them produce more, adapt faster, and move at the speed of culture, without cutting corners to get there.

Our beginnings

The start of something big

In 2011, Jonny Hendriksen was back home in New Zealand with a major milestone already behind him. A decade earlier, as CEO of online ad business ValueClick Japan, he’d taken the company public on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the first-ever foreign listing there. But he had a feeling the biggest shift in advertising was still to come.

Facebook was everywhere. Instagram had just launched. And Jonny could feel, in the way you feel weather changing, that a new era of digital advertising was soon to arrive (as it did).

The problem was nobody was ready for it. Traditional agencies, built for a slower world of TV spots and print campaigns, couldn't keep pace with brands that suddenly needed content constantly, across platforms, on internet time. Speed became the enemy of quality, and everyone was choosing one or the other.

Jonny didn't think that trade-off was necessary. He believed brands could move as fast as culture moved without cutting corners or blowing their budgets, if someone built the right kind of company to do it. So he started Shuttlerock, a new kind of creative production company, at his kitchen table, with a handful of people who believed in the same thing.

Looking ahead

Same mission. Different world.

15 years ago digital marketing was simpler, yet still new and unfamiliar. Marketers were navigating the early days of social media, figuring out what worked/what didn't, and continuously learning.

Fast forward to today, and the landscape is unrecognizable, with new platforms, evolving algorithms, and fast-moving trends. Everything has changed. But Shuttlerock’s mission hasn't. We're still here for marketers, combining human creativity with AI-powered technology to help them create content at scale, without compromise.

Fifteen years ago, Jonny noticed a shift in the advertising industry.

Facebook was finding its feet with advertisers and Instagram had only just launched. It was clear traditional agencies were struggling to keep up, convincing Jonny a new kind of digital advertising was about to explode. So he followed that gut feeling, gathered a small team around his kitchen table and started Shuttlerock.

The idea was simple: there had to be a better way to produce creative to meet the new era of advertising.

We have an outstanding global leadership team leading Shuttlerock based in New Zealand, US, Australia and Europe with Jonny Hendriksen as CEO who founded the business 15 years ago.‍
